This shawl is made using a gleaming cherry red mulberry silk, with a whimsical tulip pattern on the ends. The texture of the repeated print in the centre creates a wonderful stretchy wrap that hugs the body. Our bandhani shawls move effortlessly from everyday to special occasions - equally at home draped over a denim jacket or worn to an evening at the opera.

Paired with our Painter's Smock in Textured Kora.

One of a kind.

*All of our products are limited edition, and are dyed, woven and stitched by hand in micro batches. Each dot is placed by hand, producing intricate, precise patterns. Irregularities are a natural and beautiful part of the process, making each shawl truly unique.

SIDR Craft was founded in 1992 by the Khatri brothers, who revived Bandhani in their family and now work with over 300 women artisans across eight villages in the Kachchh Desert in Gujarat. The artisans tie the patterns in their homes for 4–5 hours per day while balancing daily life, and the fabrics are then returned to Bhuj for hand-dyeing.

Each shawl takes approximately six weeks to complete the tying process. Because each pattern is tied individually, no two shawls are exactly alike. Finished shawls feature the characteristic softly gathered texture and gentle stretch of Bandhani, and handstitched hems.

Through SIDR Craft, the Khatri brothers preserve and innovate this centuries-old art form while supporting women’s livelihoods and keeping the cultural heritage of Kachchh alive. Their work has been internationally recognized, including with the UNESCO Seal of Excellence.

To learn more about SIDR Craft and Bandhani, click here.

FEATURES

Fibre: 100% silk (mulberry)

Dye: Acid Dye

Time to Make: 6 weeks to tie, 4-5 hours per day

Fabric: Light weight

Details: A light weight hand-tied bandhani shawl in cherry red with a tulip pattern.

MEASUREMENTS

Approximately 21 in x 71 in (53 cms x 180 cms)

CARE

Dry clean or wash by hand in cool water using a pH neutral detergent.
