Much of our inspiration comes from the natural world, and from photos of our travels.
'As I dug through our old photos looking for things that caught my eye - I spotted an image of a shiny green vine with bright open faced blooms of yellow, and a second image of a butterfly alighting on a hibiscus. I took some time to find out what the blooms were, and what type of butterfly. Both were taken in Assam at my husband's home'.
'I had not planned on creating a block print design. But, on a whim, inspired by those two photos, I found myself sketching out a vine pattern, figuring out how to make it into a repeating pattern, and adding a lemon pansy butterfly motif. We had visited Ajrakhpur in 2018, the village where traditional Ajrakh block printing is practiced, and I had hoped to work together in the future - we initiated the collaboration in June 2021, which resulted in the block printed fabric and shawls included in our debut collection.'
