STORY

After years of wanting to visit WomenWeave, we finally made it to the little bustling town of Maheshwar at the end of March 2022. The clacking sounds of handlooms echo as you wander near the Beautiful Ahilya Fort and down the colourful side streets. We visited the spinning, dyeing and weaving units, as well as the shop, and we brought a few lovely shawls home with us to share with you, in colours that fit well with our custom made collection.

WomenWeave was established in Maheshwar in 2003, with the aim to connect women weavers with sustainable livelihoods. Many of the women have never woven before and WomenWeave therefore provides them with training and opportunities for progressive skills enhancement in order to maximise their livelihood opportunities.
